A woman once celebrated for her bold presence in front of the camera is now at the center of a growing investigation in Los Angeles. Adva Lavie—known across the adult-entertainment and glamour-modeling world as Mia Ventura, the Penthouse Pet of July 2023—has become the focus of law-enforcement attention as authorities look into a series of incidents involving older men across the county. Both the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department are actively working the case, urging anyone who may have been affected to come forward.

Lavie, who also went by Shoshana and Shana, once graced the cover of Penthouse’s “Movers & Shakers” issue. At that time, she was praised for her magnetic beauty, high-energy personality, and natural ease in front of the camera. Her “Lap of Luxury” Pet of the Month layout was widely admired for showcasing not only her visual appeal but also her confidence—qualities that helped her gather more than half a million followers across social media.

Penthouse photo editor and Pet project director Sam Phillips described her as someone who walked onto set overflowing with ideas and charisma. According to Phillips, the camera adored her. Every shot felt effortless, making the challenge less about capturing a great image and more about narrowing down which images were worthy of print.

Ventura’s background only added to her mystique. Before entering the modeling world full-time, she had served as a fitness trainer in the Israeli Defense Forces and worked as a flight attendant, blending discipline, poise, and worldly experience. She frequently spoke about her dream of landing a major magazine cover and chasing bigger ambitions, including acting. She also noted her pride in building her life from the ground up in Los Angeles, a city she moved to alone in pursuit of her career.

She even revealed another side of herself—her voice. She claimed singing was one of her hidden talents, another creative outlet she hoped to explore more seriously.

Penthouse CEO Moose once praised Ventura as the embodiment of modern glamour, noting how she blended elegance with personality in a way that resonated with fans around the world. To many, she represented a new generation of digital-age models who built their own platforms, their own audiences, and their own identities.

But today, investigators say Ventura may have used her appeal for a far different purpose.

According to authorities, Lavie allegedly connected with potential victims through social media and dating platforms. Detectives say she presented herself as a warm, inviting companion, building trust with older men before gaining access to their homes. Once inside, she is accused of taking valuables and disappearing—leaving behind confusion, embarrassment, and loss.

Police have linked her to both a black Porsche SUV and a white Mercedes-Benz sedan, vehicles believed to have been used during these encounters. The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station recently issued an alert, suggesting that there may be multiple victims scattered across Malibu, Calabasas, and other nearby areas.

Since news of the investigation surfaced, Ventura appears to have wiped her online presence. Her Instagram and Twitter accounts have vanished, and her Linktree has been cleared of all content.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have interacted with Lavie or experienced a similar situation to come forward. Detective Lopez at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station can be reached at (818) 878-1808, while Detective Marsh with LAPD is available at (818) 374-9500.
